On Dragons

Max's interest in dinosaurs has now been turned into an interest in dragons.

Max: "For my birthday I want dragons"

Me: "Ok; which ones?"

Max: "All of them"

Me: "And will all of the dragons play with all of the dinosaurs?"

Max (giving me a "duh!" look): "No; dinosaurs and dragons did not live in the same period"

Me: "Oh, I didn't know that. Who was first?"

 Max: "Dinosaurs Mommy, THEN dragons. Not at the same time"

Me: "Ok, got it"

Pourquoi?

Brooklyn is in that questioning EVERYTHING phase

Brooklyn: "Pourquoi xyz?"

Me: "Parce que abc"

Brooklyn: "Pourquoi?"

Me: "Parce que ..."

Brooklyn: "Pourquoi?"

Me: "Brooklyn peux-tu SVP arreter de demander Pourquoi?"

Brooklyn: "Why?"

On Being A Smarty Pants

While Max was getting changed into his pjs tonight:

Me: "Max, have you taken your underwear off yet?"

Max (doing a little wiggle dance): "Yes! Look! Can't you see my sexy bum-bum?"

Me (laughing): "Oh Max- the girls are going to love you when you are older. We always like the funny guy"

Max: "Eewww..."

Pronunciation is hard when you're 2-yrs old

Brooklyn's favorite Christmas gift is a book called "The Gruffalo" which she asks that we read to her repeatedly. It goes something like this:

Me: "What book would you like to read tonight Brooklyn?"

Brooklyn: "The Fuckalooo!!!!!"

I really need to record her saying it, the intonation and pronounciation are just too cute and funny.

Modern Day Problems

I was making Max a peanut butter sandwich to bring to a friend's house for a play date. He asked me if his friend might be allergic to peanuts. The following is the conversation they had:

Max: "Henrik, are you allergic to peanuts?"

Henrik: "No, I'm not"

Max: "That's really good"

Henrik: "I know"

On cocktail etiquette

Max, on asking me questions about a work cocktail I was at

Max: "Mommy, tell me what goes on at your work parties"

Me: "I walk up to people and say hi, I'm Alyssa, what is your name?"

Max: "And if they know you, they come closer?"

Me: "Yes."

Max: "And what else Mommy?"

Me: "And there is music playing, and food and I had a glass of wine. That's all"

Max: "It was a short party tonight"

On 21st Children

Brooklyn (holding her vtec Genius Fun): "Mommy, don't touch my laptop, agreed?"
